Shotgun ammo is basically the only ammo that can have this problem. Never been an issue with tube fed shotguns, for obvious reasons. But now that we are dealing with magazines/drums you might want to check into this. (or check your mags/ammo after a while)
Because shotgun shells are soft sided. If your magazine has a good spring, it "can/might" eventually squish the front end of the shell into an oval shape, causing it to potentially mis-feed. I do not keep any mags loaded for home defense with anything other than slugs. Kind of hard to squish a slug. I will pre-load a mag with shot-shells the night before going shooting or a match, and have not had any problem feeding, when leaving them loaded overnight.
Just passing on what I have heard/read. Not going to test it myself.
