I'm new to reloading rifle cases and didn't do my research on lubing cases. I found some 223 dies and figured I would mess around with them and got the first case stuck in the dies. Don't laugh to hard I said I was new. So I looked around and I have some Ballistol that I had mixed with water to clean some of my rifles. Well it works great for lubing cases as well.
I use Lee case lube mostly, but they all work decently well. If you use the Hornady "One Shot" lube though make SURE you clean all traces of any lube used previously, there is something about the One Shot lube that can react poorly with other lubes and actually cause stuck cases.
I've always used RCBS' and had no problems with it, either up sizing or down sizing.
I've tried the Hornady lube and had massive problems with stuck cases. The stuff actually smells and feels like motorcycle chain lube... In any event I REALLY like the Dillon case lube. That stuff is awesome. I've NEVER had a case stick since I've started using it. Great stuff...

Imperial sizing wax is the best for bottle neck sizing in my opinion.
1 oz of lanolin and 12 oz of 91% rubbing alcohol. Warm up the lanolin till it is liquid, then mix with alcohol in a spray bottle. Shake well before use. Costs me about $3 per bottle and will do several thousand cases.
Pure lanolin can be found on eBay or through some health food or craft supply places. I normally price it on eBay and get half a pound at a time for less than $10 shipped. In it's solid state, it will store for long periods. I keep it wrapped in wax paper.
I've read that lemon Pledge, furniture polish will work well in a pinch.
I use Dillon spray lube, I think it is the same mix that cstone makes. Works great.

A few weeks ago I was walking through the empty shelf reloading components isle at the BassPro in Denver. There was 1 jar of Hornady Unique Case Lube. I had to buy something after driving all the way from Parker and it's the best stuff I've ever used in 38 years of reloading. When loading 223 I put a very small on my index finger and rub it on about every 3 round. Very clean, not messy, or sticky.

It comes in a soft, waxy like cake. I guess you might call it a paste, but it seems more solid than paste and softer than beeswax. I put an ounce in a small glass jar which is then placed in a pot with water. I bring the water to a boil. The lanolin in the glass jar turns to a yellowish tinted liquid. I poor the alcohol into the spray bottle, then pour the liquefied lanolin into the alcohol filled spray bottle and shake vigorously.
The lanolin stays mostly suspended in the alcohol with some separation over time. I shake well before using, and it always mixes well before I spray into a gallon zip lock bag filled with brass.
Is your alcohol at room temperature when you mix in your lanolin?
Man, that's exactly what I did! Waxy goo into a shot glass, into a pan of water, boil 'til melted. Except I put the melted lanolin into the bottle first, then added the alcohol. But they don't wanna play together. The alcohol was room temp, was it supposed to be heated too? I actually put the spray bottle with the mix into boiling water too, to try to get the stuff to mix together. No joy.Quote:
