So I'm scheduling to finally get it done, go and get my NRA Pistol Instructor Certification this month, and looking on the NRA Instructors listing found one for Centennial Defense Academy in Englewood... Has anyone dealt with this organization before? Does anyone know anything about it? Also, anyone here an NRA Certified instructor? What do I need prior to taking this course? Thanks.

Remember that the course they certify you for is the standard for colorado Ccw and you'll understand why most instructors have their own syllabus
There's at least one instructor here that I know of, he should chime in whenever he's on next.

So it's boring? But what if I'm a gun nut and absolutely love anything having to do with the sport? Will I still be at risk of being bored? Is there any practical applications involved in class, like range time, etc.?

Its fairly boring material. The group I did mine with was fairly entertaining so it wasn't as bad as some horror stories I have heard.
Before you decide to teach a class - BUILD YOUR OWN DAMN MATERIAL. Use the NRA stuff as a guideline but it is only that. You will need to spend some time making up your own stuff if you want to teach decently entertaining classes.

If you have a good instructor, it's like any other class. You get out of it what you put into it. The real answer is up to you. My class was boring but I enjoy helping others with the sport. That makes it worth it.
If your taking an NRA course to be an NRA Instructor you need to teach the NRA syllabus otherwise you can risk having your certification revoked.

When I teach I follow the NRA books and guidelines but my .ppt material is much much much better. I also throw in some extra stuff in places (audio calls from 911, citations to specific laws, newspaper articles, etc.) to break up the class a bit and keep it fresh.

Touche! So I could put cost of ammo and reloading equipment (may get into that this year) as a tax deductible expense? Although, I will say (surprise coming for only a small number here) if I was in the adult entertainment industry and got to do what some of those guys do (especially the 3 chicks thing) I would love my life so damn much! The requirements are a 3" 3-ring binder (?), gun, two mags, and a box of ammo... sounds to me like he's gonna have some shooting in this class... WOOOPIEEE!
