I have to be honest and say, that I would not have a problem paying for my own BG check. The problem I do have with it, is the fact that the money would never see any real help to keep the guns out of criminal hands. It would simply be another revenue source to pad their asses with.
If they pass any of this BS i sure hope it come back to bite them in the a$$ ten fold.

With NICS being used to conduct criminal records checks for purchasers of any modern firearm from a gun dealer in every state, state checks are obsolete and wasteful of scarce fiscal resources. Imposing a gun tax -- or a "user fee" on a constitutional right -- on firearm purchasers to subsidize an unnecessary and duplicative program is the wrong solution to this problem. If such program is a public safety measure, then the public as a whole should pay for it and not just law abiding gun owners. They tried to do it last year with HB1048. I dont see this passing this year.
No way! They use drivers license as an example but I just checked the Bill of Rights again and don't see squat about driving rights. If you give in to this, then what is next? What other rights can they attach a fee to? Pay to follow a religion or say certain things?
I could almost agree with this if they didn't require background checks for current gun owners but since it is a right, I just can't get on board with it.
NICS is currently providing background check results in 20 minutes despite the overwhelming demand. CBI is now up to 10 days and is requesting $500k in additional funds to continue providing less than efficient service.
Please tell me why the national system that seems to be working just fine for the majority of the nation is not sufficient for Colorado?
For the record... the media is making a big deal about the $500K issue and making it look like crazy ass gun owners are going to cause tax payers to spend a bunch of cash in the name of supporting the crazy ass gun owners. In reality $500K is what it costs to imprison 10 people per year. Colorado has several thousand people imprisoned.
So I only have one question. what did they do with all of the tax money for state hospitals?

Seems like everyone in Colorado is sick, including me. This is also the first year I got a flu shot, NEVER AGAIN! Normally only get sick for ONE, maybe two days, ONCE A YEAR, not two weeks! Feel like death, finally getting better so there's hope...Quote:

See this is what I don't get. I have a good army buddy in FL who can buy a gun in 20min... NICS done. Here though, I purchase a gun last week, still don't have it. His neighbor bought a gun on Friday, brought it home on Friday. WTF? And CCW should bypass the BGC... but that'll never happen, because legislators (with the exception of one member here) hate gunowners. They forget that they work for us, they serve us, they are supposed to represent us!
It's all about what keeps the libtard gun grabbing twatwaffles happy. More checks even if they are redundant and a waste of money. They feel it is one more step in keeping guns out of the hands of bad guys,, or in this case good guys. To them, this new 10 day wait is a major bonus. It is acting like a waiting period which they would LOVE to have in place. The CBI check needs to go away. Redundant and a waste of resources.
Another thing that bothers me about these background checks for a God-given right that the Constitution only reinforces by telling the Government 'hands off'...
Why do law-abiding citizens have to prove who they are and go through this review to purchase a firearm when it's not legal to require voters to identify that they're a citizen or even eligible to vote? Is it because they both erode our freedom?
It comes down to satisfying the people who don't know squat. Think about it, sell a gun to convicted felon and you are out of business and in jail. Granted we outnumber (we being the law abiding folks) felons, but still, if there was no background check system I promise you that every gang banger, felon, and wife-beater would be lined up to get a gun...Quote:
