Just an FYI on what Michael Bennet's response to my "An AWB is BS" email...

Thank you for contacting me regarding the tragedy of the Newtown shooting. I appreciate hearing from you.
The unthinkable events which took place in Newtown, Connecticut are staggering. Like all Colorado families, my family was shocked and deeply saddened by the violence, and my heart is with the victims, their families and the entire state of Connecticut. As Coloradans, we know how this type of tragedy can shake a community to its core and in the aftermath of these abhorrent acts our priority should be on supporting the survivors and families, and healing our communities.
We must have a real discussion in this country about finding ways to stop these types of senseless shootings. While no one law is likely to prevent a deranged individual committed to taking life from doing so, we should have a comprehensive and civil conversation about finding the right and most effective solutions to protect our communities and particularly, our children. This includes exploring a number of areas, such as mental health services, violence in our culture, and a review of our gun laws.
A Sandy Hook Support Fund has been established by the Newtown government to provide the victims and their families with support services during this difficult time. I am also a cosponsor of H.R. 6241, the Stop Online Ammunition Sales Act, to prevent individuals from purchasing large amounts of ammunition over the Internet.

It's time to do more than have a conversation about crime control and mental health issues. It is Congress's responsibility to lead, and it's time for me to take action. This is about crime control and doing what we can to deter and ultimately prevent the kinds of tragedies we've experienced all too often in the last few years. This effort must include a discussion about treating mental illnesses and other ways we can reduce violence in our communities. We may agree or at times disagree on these different issues, but I believe Congress should come together to enact responsible changes. Rest assured I will keep your thoughts in mind as debate on these issues continues in Congress.

I have yet to hear back from Representative Lamborn, Senator Udall, and the President (go figure on that one, huh?).

Bennet's response was very vanilla – not nearly the F U attitude Perlmutter or DeGettes responses evokes. Bennet has surprised me a few times in the past going against the Democratic flow, but I guess we will see where his chips fall on this. He knows my opinion on this and I will continue to remind him of my opinion on a regular basis moving forward.

Oh, I would say they are either trying to start one OR are so far out of touch with the reality of the situation that they have no idea the fight they are about to start.

At first I thought the same thing, but then I found this on his site...

It is plain and simple, hypocritical.

You are NOT "respecting the 2nd Amendment rights of gun owners" when you outlaw ANY type of gun. You are directly trampling on those 2nd Amendment rights! The 2nd is about so much more than sport, hunting and defense.

Because the do not understand the phrase: "...shall not be infringed." It's going to take more than words to convince them.
