I wouldn't pay more than that regular price.
I can't decide if I think it's pretty or ugly ... the workmanship is pretty nice though.
No idea what it'll end up going for, but I did find the sellers location ironic.
Not surprising since it has DPMS externals too.
BTW, I don't get why someone would put that much time, effort and money in carving up an AR-10 and then top it off with Grade A wood.
It'll go for more $$$ than I have to spend, that's for sure! I think it's kinda cool looking, but only when it's in its presentation case. It looks weird on its own.
pretty in an overdone kind of way, until I saw the brake on the end...
I'd hang it up on the wall, pretty sweet piece.
I've been looking at the upper more, and it looks like the rail was "tacked on" by like a solid-state welding process to a forging. I think for the price of this, that it should have been machined from billet, but I don't know if grain flow would be a concern. Anyone else more knowledgeable care to chime in?
From the description below the pictures-
"The upper and lower receivers are made from 8620 carbon steel that has been color case hardened with the Turnbull bone charcoal process. The upper receiver has a built-in high rise Picatinny rail, eliminating the need for scope risers."
I think it's pretty cool but look at this picture of the relief cut in the stock for the buffer tube lock ring...the wood cutting on the bottom of the relief looks shitty.

why would they have used off the shelf parts for the boltcatch safety etc....makes it look unfinished
Holy crap, over 26K now. I'd be willing to bet someone on this forum can do engraving and someone else case-hardening, if not the same person... I've seen some handy work on here. Imagine a month or two or three, spent working on a project like this for a 26K payout? sheesh. Could be a pretty good self-employed job....
OK...I can admire the craftsmanship. But...dayum. That looks like something Saddam Hussein would have laying around one of his palaces. Gaudy just doesn't adequately describe it.
Turnbulls Color casehardening is the best in the industry. I appreciate the work but man, fugly.
Anybody notice the sellers location?
Over nine days to go on the auction....I hope that gun is still legal to take possession of at that point for the winning bidder.
I bet that is one heavy bastard.
Up to $42,025.00
Ugly, that is all
Honestly, really not worth the money. This shows however how much money you can make just by doing something that other people are just too lazy to do. The hardest part of that project, would be finding a steel receiver. You could send it out for engraving like that for a couple grand, and the color casing could easily be done in one's garage if they had a kiln. The rest can be purchased online. So, if you can find steel receivers, you're in the clear for whatever the price is of them and a couple thousand for the engraving. Oh, and that is one ugly bitch...
I wouldn't mind having a case hardened ar15 but I don't like the wood and engraving
Holly Fu*k, I just found myself drooling while looking at the pics!! No joke!! [not-worthy] [Shock] I want!
It's a Turnbull and the proceeds are going to the NSSF. I wouldn't be surprised if it goes for over $80K. Heck, it's at $50K now and there're still nearly 5 days to go.
What not even a case of 20 rnd mags included with it. Just a single 4 rnd & 10 rnd
I'm sorry - maybe I view the tools of our hobby as just that.... a tool. To me that is the most useless rifle I've ever seen. It might go for unbelievable money but it's no where worth that. I find it ugly. If that wood was on a Winchester pre-64 or a nice Winchester 94 or similar type of rifle I might get excited but you can never shoot that thing or the value goes straight down.
Well at least it's not traditional black, which makes it less leathal.[Flower]
$50K now...holy crap some people have too much money.
If I knew someone would outbid me I would bid the $50K just to say I did!
50" of gold inlay? Geeze, fancy pants.
I'd prefer to reserve this type of styling for old West classic rifles and pistols, not a modern AR, IMHO.
I get that it's fancy and such, and prices have gone up in gun-land, but the TAR-10 is listed at only $5k on their website. How its gotten up to $50k is beyond me.
Insanity.
In light of how many Gunbroker bidders have won auctions and not followed through with payment lately, I wouldn't automatically assume the winning bidder is going to pay up until the seller has money in-hand.
I might pay 6k in these crazy times. oh wait, I'm a DUMBASS!![russian roulette]
$136K!!!!!!!!!! Must have been one of those elitist NRA shotgunner types
Un-freakin-believable. That's one lucky SOB (the SELLER).
138K? Holy PRICE GOUGING BATMAN!!!![ROFL1]
