Wow that was lucky. Classicly predictable that it turned into a mob stomping after too. For those that don't know, there is a lot of tension between the ethnic Turk population and the others in Bulgaria. This tension goes back 100s of years and has to do with Bulgaria being conquered and freed over and over in border expansions and contractions of the Turkish Empire.
Jeez, thats pretty crazy! Looks like that guy reacted quickly and pushed the gun away from pointing at him, probably much quicker than most would. However, it also looks like the security guards' reaction time was a little slow, but its hard to say for sure without a wider angle view of everything.

I think its more likely that he was given it by certain individuals and was told it was a loaded handgun and all he had to do was pull the trigger.

I hate to be suspicious but ... the assailant is an ethnic Turk, the "victim" was an ethnic Turk party leader, the weapon in question was a GAS pistol and the guy at the podium reacted so fast you'd have thought he was clairvoyant. Hmmmmm ....[Coffee]
