Tanner Gun Show Jan 26-27 DENVER

Didn't see a recent thread for this weekend's gun show (maybe it's canceled?)...

I went to the one last month and promptly turned around when I walked around the side of the building and saw the line. I'm guessing things haven't calmed down enough (7 day wait) to purchase rifles, but maybe they figured out a way to get it to you? I need magazines and don't really feel like wasting my time if they're going to have pmags at $75/ea. If there are deals to be had, is it better to just show up early Sat and torture myself... or maybe late Sun afternoon?

Anyone going?

In the meantime, I'll browse through the pages of comments from Dec's show and get a feel.

Last I heard firing line still had pmags for $40

If you want to save a few dollars back order online, parts are reaching retailers slowly.

I might fight through the crowds and look around bit. Since I don't need a firearm, magazines, or ammo I shouldn't have to worry too much about price gouging.

Yeah, I need some ammo, so it looks like I'm getting up at 6 on Saturday to head down there. Doubt the wife will be coming with me at that time. Grab something for breakfast and a big coffee to drink while you're waiting in line.

last time round it was between .75 and a buck a round for .223. i cant imagine it'll be much better. i couldnt believe how many people were snapping it up at those prices.

I'll be going this time but only because I'm going to be working the laser engraving table with my buddy. Otherwise I can't see waiting in line to get in.

How were 9mm and .45 ammo prices last show? Any idea what they'll be like this time? If they're not too unreasonable, they'd be about the only thing that would get me to attend this weekend. Maybe if silver drops a few more % today and tomorrow, I'd consider grabbing a few more rounds too, but i can do that anytime.

The more I think about it, the less I am considering going. I don't need anything that they have there, I only want some stuff...and the stuff I want isn't practical especially right now.

If you're looking for mags at a decent price, I would definitely show up early Saturday & have CASH. If there are any at a good price, you can bet they won't be there in the afternoon or on Sunday. Last show anything at a reasonable price was gone by 11:00 Saturday from what I saw.

Has anyone really ever gotten a good deal at the gun show? I've been many many times and quit going a couple years ago as I never came across any deals and generally found the prices high.

Found a few ok deals over the last few years at TGS and the other ones in the area, but not like some I remember seeing at gun shows 10 years ago.

Yes, tons. But almost exclusively on ammo and parts. I've never found a "good deal" on a gun, magazines, or optics at any of the shows in the past 5-6 years. Fair prices, sure, but no really good deals. When I go, it's usually to avoid paying shipping on bulk ammo, parts, silver, and an occasional odd item that catches my eye... but don't expect to see better prices than you do on certain websites or private party deals.

Well, looks like I might need to go early Saturday as much as I don't want to deal with the cold, the crowds, and the gouging. I'm looking for surplus AK mags, or high quality metal ones. No place has them in stock, so I imagine I'll be paying 50-75 each, if they have them. PMags are another story, but those are actually trickling in to online retailers right now. I'd love a nice ar10, and some other plinking rifles.... but I might just have to hold off and hope nothing drastic happens over the next few months.

A buddy and I are planning to go. We are trying to sell some rifles. What is the procedure for getting in. I know security will check and zip tie but can we stand in line with scary black guns slung over our shoulders outside in Denver?

You may not even need to get inside to get it sold, you are going to get offers standing in line.
Just remember, any part of a firearms deal made at a gun show or on it's property must have a BG check done.
There are a couple gun shops in close proximity to the show that can do this for you.


If someone had a butt load of magazines, they could get there extra early, park near the door and put up a sign asking almost any crazy price. They would sell out within 30 minutes and never have to get out of their vehicle and be gone well before the doors opened.

I need primers! I hope I can find some this weekend!

I happen to have a ton. Was thinking about offering them to some guys that have booths in the show for a decent price where they still had room to make some cash, but haven't contacted anyone yet.

Kinda leary about setting up in the parking lot, I'm sure there is something they could figure out to nail you with. I'm sure I could make more money that way though.

SideShow Bob is correct on the ANY PART OF THE FIREARM TRANSACTION TAKING PLACE AT A GUN SHOW needing a BG check.....
Don't know if the BG check cost is important to you buyers but the FFL's in the show doing the BG checks are not supposed to charge any more than the standard $10 gun show fee. The gun shops may possibly be quicker but you are at their mercy on what they will charge for that BG check.

I think I'll go. Bring the AK and see what sort of crazy offers I can get.

What kind of pmag prices and supply are you guys seeing there? I may swing by an unload a few if it's worth it. Gotta pay for the wife's maternity clothes shopping spree.

No one can tapastalk because they are crammed in there like sardines.

Bt seriously if there is room to move, and not a line to 60th, I might run up there with some AR parts

They start at $35 used, NIW $60.

Ammo by the case is flying out of here.

Even before the current panic buying, I stopped going to gun shows. Prices were no better, usually worse actually, than what local stores would offer or online. If you are someone that hasn't been slowly building your ammo stocks over the past few years, then I can see why folks would flock there for ammunition.

I have been seeing that inventory at gun stores is starting to build again, and ammo can't be too far behind. I have heard from several gun store owners in AZ that they expect ammunition to start rolling in again later in February.

Long line at opening and most booths with high prices. Cheapest .223/5.56 ammo I found was 50 cents a round and it went quick. Hard to find booths with much that was worth even looking for. Mosins were priced at 300+ for ones in OK condition, no scope and usually not even the full accessory kit they usually come with. Anything AR or AK was insane, like the $2100 for a DPMS Oracle or $1100 for a WASR-10. I did pick up some primers for $28 per 1000, limit one and some brass for $70 per 500, and caved and bought 500 .223 rounds for $250 in a .30 cal ammo can since I still want to be able to go to the range. Figured it was likely the best I was going to find since other places had PMC bronze .223 for $20 per box of 20 rounds. Other stuff like prep items, a couple of food booths had a couple of items that interested me and I grabbed to add to my medpack and hunting vest. A few of the booths that had ammo said they might not be back in February since they were back ordered to the middle of the month and it isn't worth the costs and time of going just to try and sell hunting rifle rounds. Ammo Kan had their table setup and by the time I got to theirs at 9:20 they had about 40 people in line to buy their 5.56 cans that were not being delivered until 11. So a lot of those people were in line at about 7:30 when I arrived and were going to wait in that line until 11 to buy ammo. I left at 10:45 and it was still filling up, but there wasn't a long line to get in, just a continuous stream coming in from the parking lot.

By 11:30 there was no line getting in, and the crowd did not seem more than a pre election turnout. AR Mags are still on the stupid side of pricing. I particularly enjoyed the guy selling 300 rnd packs of 5.56 for $900. Seemed like after lunch the price was averaging $1-1.5 a round. Still decent prices for side arms.

The protestors outside with the "hey NRA how many kids have you killed today" posters were a nice touch

Spent the day at the show (I work every saturday gun show) Security Guard (really tall Black Guy, many of the regulars know him) he told us there were over 8000 people by 2:00. This is about the same # as at the late december show

I've bought five guns from the Arms Authority table (Rifle, CO). They've given me good to great deals every time. Really nice people too. They weren't at the last one though, I imagine because of the logistics of being an out of town vendor selling guns with an eight day BGC timeframe.

They had great deals on the Ruger BX-25 mags! only 80.00 for one!
