Great, just what we need
I thought it was illegal to bring a weapon into a courthouse. Why do people violate these common sense laws? On a serious note if this happens at a courthouse that has security as tight as a dolphins asshole, clearly people like this won't be deterred by laws. You can't reason with crazy whether they are making the laws or breaking them.
I think that we should make courthouses gun free zones. Oh wait.
They happen. What the media is doing is highlighting every instance on a national scale. Of course, they're only highlighting the negatives, the positives rarely see the light of day.
Imagine if they did the same for fatality auto accidents? People would be dying everywhere all of the time. Some of the chicken littles would be too afraid to drive.
Gun free zones are a pipe dream. Anyone willing to trade their own life while taking another will not follow the law and won't give any regard to the threat of punishment.
..."if it even saves 1 life" is a BS argument. It depends on who's life and at what cost. Life is not guaranteed and the world is full of risk.
Even the Las Animas County court house down in good ole Trinidad has metal detectors at the entrance with an armed guard closely watching/listening. Recently I had forgotten that I had a very small Swiss Army PEN KNIFE in my pocket and I got nailed when passing through the detector. Just another "gun free" zone that we have to contend with.
Next we will have to get detectors that will detect the "space age" plastic/ceramic knives etc.......... Guess I am kinda glad that I'm already past my MID-70's so won't have to put up with this goofy shit for much longer.[blaster]
You guys have all said what I posted on facebook this morning. Gun free zones, safe place, etc. What a load of crap.
The media has been watching Young Guns..."Make You Famous"
He obviously didnt know the law. Maybe they should send a copy of all laws to every citizen....after each representative has memorized and understood every law written.
...or maybe teach the weapons to read. They're blamed for these incidents, they must have been in control and it must have been their fault.
A federal parolee huh? Too bad it isn't a crime for people like that to have guns
Not to be insensitive, but this is just everyday news that is being used for an agenda. Or is it us that is being sensitive about it. Just because it's in the news we react because of how the major incidents are being reported. We are just waiting for the next one. "We" being us on this forum. Just sayin'.
Yes. It's not us being overly sensitive.
For example.... Death takes no holiday: Tracking gun violence over one long January weekend
What the media never mentions in these cases is the vulnerability of victims as they approach a gun free zone. I think that was why the prosecutor was killed on his walk to the court house. Maybe this guy planned to catch his wife outside. If you want to hit an honest person at or near a gun free zone is the place to do it.
If it is like the security in the court houses I've been in, it is a bunch of super fat guys with pistols without a round in the chamber in holsters half way down to their knees.
Politicians crave publicity. Passing new legislation is a photo-op. Enforcing existing laws is not. Do the math.
