Well it says POLICE/RESCUE on the side so I think they are just intending to help us.

*blank expression motie here*
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: We need bigger guns.
...In the name of fairness, of course. [facepalm]
...Feds buy up 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition......
try to impose unconstitutional laws against our gun rights.....
Buy up armored vehicles.....
anybody seeing a pattern here.........
Think these will be used to transport women on college campuses?
I'll leave this here...

First they buy up all the bullets, then outlaw the magazines, devalue the dollar...
A link I saw on another gun forum. According to this link, they are for the Marines. I certainly can't verify either way.

I think they need to phase out the shitty hummer in the mil with these and DHS can get old rag top hummers
If the majority of the population don't see the gov gearing for a civil war, they are just blind. I have operated these vehicles. If a revolution does break out, gonna be hard taking these things out. They can withstand a LOT of stuff.
So... Actually looking at the contract award announcement, which which is more than a year old, these are being retro fitted for the USMC... I can't find anything official to support this "DHS buying thousands of MRAPs" nonsense. If someone has a source that's not infowars please post it.
We beat the crap out of ours daily and they took it like a champ. I would say the biggest weakness they have is offroad capability. They were not the best off the hardened surface. The MATV's on the other hand were the best all around vehicle I have ever dealt with. We used both in Afghanistant in 2010-2011.
I've never used one., but every time I'm behind one I can't figure out the hell they don't tip over constantly. The things look super top heavy.
So.. every picture I've seen of them is just photoshopped to show DHS markings?
Any armored vehicle is susceptible to damage or destruction when a Molotov cocktail is deployed above the engine compartment vents.
snopes says that dhs is getting bring back mraps from the marines
Mixed in that 2 billion rounds is at least 200 million rounds of .223 www.fbo.gov/index?s=opportunity&mode=form&id=c432be5826bf182b1 80ab4c2392aa978&tab=core&_cview=1
I believe there is more 223 being bought just don't have the time to search for the pdf files.
What was interesting is the figure that the Iraq war on average consumes about 5.5 million rounds a month. Thats about 24 years worth of the Iraq war. http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Governm...-Of-Ammunition
"Weapons of war have no place on American streets..." Unless they're possessed by the Government, right!? [facepalm]
I'm thinking that many on this board are familiar with the weaknesses of the MRAP.
From the video I saw of the operator discussing the vehicle; there is only one door on the thing. Just jam a large steel pipe between the door and the ladder... Case closed.
Speaking of which... here's a story that seems to offer some decent evidence in direct conflict with this story.
