Anyone watch Alaska State Troopers on natgeo or Netflix? I know it's a "reality" show but its pretty amusing. Seems like AK has some major drug/alcohol problems. Looks like an interesting job though

All the time love that show. Went to Alaska last week and saw a few of them

I spent some time there a few years ago in places like Palmer and had a great time, now Palmer shows up with tons of heroin addicts and domestic assaults haha. I love that some of those guys fly into backcountry to patrol
It's a unique kind of police work for sure. COPS + Fargo.
I've seen it a couple times.
One of the episodes I saw, they pulled over a guy for drunk driving. He kept saying "You can't arrest me! Read the Constitution! Ron Paul! Ron Paul!"
Made me think of some guys on this board.
I watched it every time it was on, that shows drives my wife nuts. Might be some of the appeal though.[ROFL1]
Yeap! A MAJOR PROBLEM with alcohol.
I DVR it.
Inquiring mind here. What the fuk goes through some skels mind that they decide to flee / run? Hey Idiot! You have multiple camera crews filming and you high tail it in to a dumpster. Lock them the fuk up. Better yet, like Noriega make them watch their stupid "escape" in a loop 24/7 while they're going through withdrawals.
If you flee in Alaska and hide in the bush...you get eaten by a bear!
My cousin is a trooper and on the show.
Fantastic show.
My uncle was the Chief of the Alaska State patrol back in 70s-80s . Quite honestly never spoke to him to much about it since my father and uncles were also cops. It was kind of like what they did at the time and there was no constant talking. Either way they all had great stories, and thankfully I have some to share with my kids about their andy adventures. Either way Alaska would still be a nice place to live if I had the resources. I know I loved the place on a cruise I took up there, but heck those port towns were incredible and seemed to be some nice clean safe places.
Id move up there in a minute with the right job
Alaska would be a really great place to live if it was located where Utah is. I catch that show occasionally because I like the wildlife segments.
A guy from the PD where I worked back in the 90s quit to go to work for them. Never heard from him after he left. Probably got ate by a moose or something.
::::smh:::: everyones tellin on each other out there
I've known two cops who left here to become cops in Alaska. They both bitch on FB about the winters, but they love the summers.
I have a friend who was stationed up there, then retired from service and stayed in Fairbanks... he says the crime rate up there is pretty high considering the population. Must be boredom or something. And it seems like they have a bad alcohol problem because most of the villages are dry. Still, I love that show, it's like COPS except 100x better- thanks to the modern advances in editing. [Beer]
I have been watching that show the last few days on Netflix! Good show for sure
