Sounds like he was a little put out. What was he expecting? A New York City ticker tape parade?
Governor Hickenhooper said, "When they are shouting recall Hickenlooper, I hope they are overacting."
"Other protestors shouted, "America!" because they want to keep their 2nd Amendment right to bare arms."
I didn't think the 2nd was about fashion, or showing skin... :-)
I am pretty sick of hearing about how BGC's have stopped 5000 criminals... The whole reason that CO has CBI do BGCs instead of just using the federal system is so they can turn down people who have ANYTHING outstanding that owes money to the state!!!!!!! If you have an unknown unpaid parking ticket, you will NOT pass a BGC. This isn't a criminal trying to buy a gun. This is the state holding individual rights hostage. I see it weekly. I cannot believe these reported numbers. I want to see actual numbers on this. Just how many of those BGCs were appealed and overturned due to the denial being stupid shit? How many were legitimate denials? In 5 weeks of selling guns for a living, 10-30 a day, I've seen about 7 denials. Only one so far sounded legit. I simply do not believe these stats this idiot keeps spouting.
This is awesome, I would love to see protesters camped out 24x7 in front of anywhere he appears simply yelling RECALL over and over.
Is there a legitimate recall effort in place?
I got this quote from a Denver post article.
"U.S. Department of Justice data showed that from 1999 to 2009, 3.6 percent of those who went through a gun background check in Colorado were denied. That was the third-highest rate in the nation. Furthermore, 58.8 percent of denials in Colorado that were appealed were overturned. That's a lot."
If you can find the original article and could post it here, I would greatly appreciate it. I'm considering doing a FOIA/RFI on this issue and see what I can find. Any little bit would help.
If anyone has good info on where to drop a FOIA for this info (CBI FOIA office?) I would appreciate it.
Thanks. Read this article and the one linked to it. No identification of the actual criteria for denial, but does clarify that they deny based on arrest if they can't clarify if the person was convicted or not. So, the burden of proof falls to the individual after an arrest was made for a DV or felony. They assume a conviction and then require an appeal be requested before they clarify the result of the arrest. The juvy records being reviewed is troubling too. I wonder what law allows for that and when did it pass? Getting juvenile records during an investigation was a huge pain in the ass, but a BGC is instant justification? I find that pretty disturbing.
Exactly. If a person is arrested and then the charges are dropped and/or not filed, it doesn't necessarily mean they're in the clear. If a government employee (court clerk or designee) fails to properly note the disposition of the charges then the arrest basically becomes the same as a conviction to the CBI. It's up to the INNOCENT person to prove he/she is NOT GUILTY.
The 5000 number he throws about is a fictitious number.
But he's a liberal democrat. Lying and dishonesty are the only things he knows.
Fuck hickenlooper. He isn't for the people. Just a worthless puppet taking away the rights of the common man.
Get the actual numbers and send them to the news in response to hickenloopers interview.
