Hope it gets another IL law struck down. Sad that she can go enlist in the military without parental consent but can't get a shotgun to defend herself.

I had the same problem in IL. I was 19 and wanted a FOID card but my parents wouldn't sign for me. Had to wait till I was 21. I thought it was bullshit that I was a legal adult but could not enjoy a right with out parental permission. I always thought that law should be challenged cause I thought it could be argued against it rather easily.

Thomas, one thing about the Illinois FOID card, it does not list you as being a gun/ammo owner. It is merely the State of Illinois giving the OK for the bearer to own/purchase/obtain guns and ammo and/or to possess those items - kinda like belonging to the NRA does not necessarily indicate that you are actually a firearm owner. That FOID card is not worth a shit unless the officials who feed required info (various legal violations etc.,) into the State Police/FOID system will do it on a timely basis. In that goofy State, even to posses a single round of .22 ammo without that FOID card is a violation. Even though having a FOID card, which is supposed to show that the bearer is OK by the State to make such purchases, they still have to go through a BG check.... Wonder how soon Colorado will require such a FOID card. Don't be too surprised - and just remember, "it's for the children".

Its actually a firearm owner registration. Yes you are technically correct that it does not mean you are a gun owner but it is very dangerous. Lisa Madigan (AG) was trying to get all the FOID card information from the State Police so she could find all the expired ones and go raid their houses to confiscate their firearms. Chances are if you have a FOID you have a gun.. Luckily the state police said no.

I am amazed that the IL S.P. said "NO" to that ding bat Madigan. Once again, I'll have to say that I moved from IL to CO to escape the horse shit IL gun laws and now I'm going to be faced with even more restrictive laws out here. Damn sad!!

She's going to win that lawsuit... Good for her.
Mom's comin' 'round to put it back the way it ought to be.
