It could be worse. You could have had to not only pay the E470 fee but also paid the fees to use E470 on a regular basis.

We spend close to $300 a month on E470 between the wife and I.

Actually, it's $25 a month...1 month grace. So 1 month expired, no charge, 5 or more months =serious butt rape, no lube.

Wyoming is better than Kansas- but yes, it's getting to the point where the Denver Dictatorship of Democrats (otherwise known as the DeeDeeDee! LOL) makes any departure from this state, no matter how short, a refreshing thing. Still, for the time being, better than NY or CA.

$760 IIRC, is what a buddy of mine paid to renew his registration on a 2011 Dodge 2500... I just remember he was venting about it back in May saying he has a truck, not a Lambo.

Did you make sure to tell them it's a recreational truck? When I still had my 1993 K3500 they said trucks were defaulted to work trucks which have a higher registration fee schedule and you have to tell them it's not used in a business. Last year my tags cost me 158, but would have been 260 if I didn't tell them it's recreational.

I dunno- I'll have to ask him... but I think he does use the truck for work.

This is one of the biggest sore spots for me. It is utter bullshit that they can attach "fees" in lieu of going through the legal process of imposing taxes. It is absolutely unconstitutional and the back fees for previous years are absolute bullshit. I am going to go register a motorcycle that I bought literally a decade ago when I was on active duty stationed in Washington state (where I paid sales tax) and I am going to get charged sales tax on it here in the state of Colorado in peoples gay public of Boulderfornia per the date on the Washington title and the vehicles value. What a bunch of shit. Just yesterday my girlfriend payed over $1500 for registering a car that she bought for 16,000 used private sale. That is over 9% tax (including fees which are just illegal taxes). I have fucking had it with this state.
