My heart goes out to this kid, hid parents and everyone who had to witness something so horrific. Nothing like a video game. sad very sad.

Apparently, the kid had been talking about killing himself for quite some time on facebook. Nobody bothered to intervene. Shame. Although I never feel bad for people who are selfish enough to kill themselves, my heart breaks for the other kids who had to see that. What a F'ed up thing to do. He obviously chose the school on purpose so he could hurt others. If he really just wanted to get out of this world he would have done it at home in the garage. Just f'ed up. So sick.

Hell, in MY day (mid 70s), The guy who started the fight MIGHT have gotten a 3 day suspension, but more often just got the rest of the day off and a call to his parents. If the guy who he hit kicked his ass, more often than not the incident was considered never to have happened. Everyone learned something. Nobody got seriously hurt (mostly black eyes, bloody noses, and the occasional split lip). Bullies learned it wasn't safe to pick on people, those bullied learned that it was ok to stand up to the bullies. All of those lessons are missing today. Hell, I was bullied right up to the point that I decided NOT to be. Amazing how bloodying someones nose and kicking them in the 'nads will change their attitude.

During some particularly soul-crushing times in my life, I'd be lying if I said I didn't think it would be easier to just check out.

Walking into a crowded assembly center and setting myself on fire did not enter the realm of possibility or options.

Vincent Nett was burned over 80 percent of his body after setting himself on fire at a suburban Denver high school last month.

    WESTMINSTER, Colo.
    — Police say a 16-year-old student who set himself on fire at a suburban Denver high school nearly two weeks ago has died.

Westminster Police Department police investigator Cheri Spottke says that Vincent Nett succumbed to his injuries around 5 p.m. Sunday. The boy was burned over 80 percent of his body and had been in critical condition at a local hospital.

According to police and fire reports, the boy doused himself with an accelerant before lighting himself on fire in an apparent suicide attempt in Standley Lake High School's cafeteria on Jan. 27.

Spottke says the official cause of death will come from the coroner's office.

She says counselors will be available Monday at the Westminster school.

This is how it should be! Someone picks on you, light his ass up until he's crying for mommy, then drag him into the restroom, stuff his head in a shitter and give him a swirly! But no, we must pussify our children by punishing them for even thinking about defending themselves......

When I was a sophomore ( early 90's ) I got suspended for defending myself ( and winning ) after being jumped by 3 gang members. Me and my Dad were rather confused that I was suspend for fighting.. when all I did was defend myself. when my dad asked what was I supposed to do the principal said "Not fight"... "So He was supposed to just stand there and take being beaten on?" .. " well no but he can't fight !" I'll never forget he look on the principals face when we asked what that.

We left the office and my dad made it to a fun 3 day vacation for me since it was bullshit.

    Logic just fails these people.

Same mentality as those who think everything will be all well and good in the world when noone has weapons and the only folks allowed to be armed is the police and military. And then they will be just a phone call away and instantly come to your rescue.
