Considering we live in Col-o-rad-oh ... er Col-uh-rad-oh ... er Col-o-rah-do ... er Col-uh-rah-do ... I'm not going to worry about mispronouncing other place names. Dammit.

Or when some goofy newscaster is speaking in perfect English (with not so much as even a regional accent), and all of a sudden they have to show how multiple-cultural they are, sounding like they've switched languages, blurting out someone's name with a bunch of rolling r's and whatnot. Nevermind that the "Rodriguez" they are talking about has lived here his whole life, doesn't speak Spanish, and certainly doesn't pronounce his own name like he's the ring announcer at a boxing match in Mexico City.
But I'm probably just a Neanderthal too.
No kidding, when I was younger (I'd say 11 or so), I would pronounce it "Heckler & Kotch"- that is until I was corrected to the right way to pronounce it, like "Coke".
Which dipshit in our state legislation pronounces it "Col-o-ra-dah"? When people pronounce it like that I always want to find a banjo and make them feel like they're back home in Mississippi, because those are the only ones allowed to mispronounce our state like that.
Had a guy in my AIT (mind you this is the US Army Intelligence school, not the easiest to get into, or so we thought) who no shit couldn't pronounce "Eritrea."

Oh another fun thing about growing up in Kansas is that within the borders of Kansas anything named Arkansas is pronounced "Are-Kansas" (this includes the river, the town and any streets) If its located outside Kansas you pronounce it "ark-in-saw". I always thought that this was Kansas being too clever by half, but apparently the pronunciation of Arkansas was disputed even in Arkansas up until 1881 when they officially made it "ark-in-saw".
Lots of fun to move to Colorado and have to stop and think every time you mention the Arkansas river.
Oh and one that always annoyed me even as a native was Greenwich Road in Wichita ... its pronounced "Green Which" ... I always refused and called in Grennich anyway.

I believe the correct pronunciation of Lousville, KY is LUL-vull. I could be wrong here... I'm from Michigan, which is actually pronounced "MISH-ih-gan" not "Mitch-uh-ginn" ....These are the same people who say "Chih-KAAH-go" instead of "SHIH-kah-go".
But that is a funny one between KY and CO.
