    Public School teacher? LOL

Seriously, that makes perfect sense, but I wonder why only on the east side of the rivers? And then a few blocks away start making evering N/S/E/W. Seems kinda silly, but hey, gov't does silly things.

They start with one building, then build another, and another. After a while when it became apparent that there was real growth potential for a large town, they straightened everything out from that point on. That's the way I learned it anyway.

#53- Many of Denver's famous bars and restaurants didn't start out that way... Several were actually brothels and opium dens. Market Street was once Denver's "Red Light District", and LoDo's Bar and Grill was a famous brothel.

I wonder if the People of Denver area realize that the rest of the state avoids their little piece of the world because it is so unlike the rest of the beautiful state of Colorado in many, many way?

Don't foget "Little Boulder" aka Manitou Springs

What was the definition of Boulder.... "50 square miles surrounded by reality"

The way the tour guides told it when I drove tour buses is that once the rich of Denver started pushing for Denver to be the capitol of the state they wanted the streets to run north/south, east/west because the big cities back east ran the streets in those directions. They also donated the land for the capitol building and gave up the home that is now the governor's mansion to help sway the vote.

Doc Holliday killed a man who was cheating at cards in downtown Denver. It was a legal kill because the man was cheating but the Denver Post fought very hard to have Doc locked up.
