I read another report that the Air Force Academy was named a target amongst other things like Vegas casinos, Central station, etc.

If I was them, I would go further inland.

my guess is this is what they hope for, but if discovered, they'll detonate at the border checkpoint.

The report also says that “because of the individualized nature of the radicalization process—it is difficult to predict triggers that will contribute to [homegrown violent extremists] attempting acts of violence…lone offenders present law enforcement with limited opportunities to detect and disrupt plots, which frequently involve simple plotting against targets of opportunity.”

And in the FOX story, this is disturbing... read as "we can target anyone we want for reasons we don't have to disclose"

I can't believe the cartels would allow the attention of an attack from their territory/turf.

This would only apply if they were buying access to the cartel tunnels... ISIS may have enough money to get their attention.

Shouldn't be too hard to get the explosives across. Just hide them with some drugs so nobody will find them.

Although, this might just be a clever diversion. Maybe while they are putting extra effort into checking the vehicles, they will just walk across the border.

anyone with basic math can build one at home. no need to smuggle anything across the border.
