I just finished reading "Day Of Wrath" (short book, got through it in a few hours) - they should make a short movie based on that and have free showings across the country, as well as free distribution of the book as widely as possible (obviously the author should be compensated), since maybe that would help wake up the idiots who are only slightly more aware and in tune with reality than the zombies from TWD...

Luckily for those people in LA the gov't authorities confiscated all those dangerous guns in the hands of commoners. Imagine the chaos that would've ensued if they hadn't. The streets would've been flooded with the blood of innocent looters and thugs instead of water.

No...because most leftist anti-gun types are also hard-core pacifists who will try to appease rather than fight. It's the "just give them what they want and they won't hurt us" attitude. I don't think in general (a few maybe...but they would be the exception) they would be swayed to take up arms at all or that those who had taken up arms were doing the right thing.

Exactly. You can't expect a bunch of untrained rednecks and hillbillies to fight off bad guys...

Nope. If we end up with a series of coordinated mass shootings by ISIS (or other outside faction) it will put the antis into overdrive, move most of the fence sitters to their position and probably erase the gains we've made in the last couple of decades to worse than they were under the Clinton AWB.

See, from a logistical standpoint it makes more sense to have thousands (or more) of your "law abiding" Muslim cousins that already live here legally purchase guns at gun shops and deposit them in the basement of the local Mosque than it would to have your ISIS infiltrators sneak across the border with cases of battle-field fresh Kalashnikovs.

You'll see legally purchased semi-auto "assault rifles" used almost exclusively and the argument will no longer be "we must keep the occasional lone nutter from getting his hands on these" to "NOBODY can be trusted with them because we can't simply ban Muslims from buying them". The whole "we must get weapons of war off our streets" will take on a whole new meaning when we're literally talking about a foreign standing army inside the US arming themselves with gun store bought sporting rifles.

I believe that for the most part, the average American will choose the illusion of security over their own liberty.

Add to that the fact that our society is already so balkanized and fractured, when the jack boot of DC comes down in response I wouldn't be surprised if it sparked civil war. And frankly knowing this administration I would not at all be surprised if I found out that that was the plan all along.

So while on the one hand I can see how an ISIS terrorist attack might wake a few Americans up on issues of border security and gun rights, the downside is that it could also empower the statists and end up triggering a conflagration that none of us want to think of.

Hope you're not going to be in SF on Thursday ... I'd stay away from any major metropolitan area on Thursday.
