The thing that really gets under my skin is the changing attitude in this country. Sharpton leading a chant "what do we want?" "Dead cops" "when do we want it?" "Now!" Now I know we as LE will never stoop to their level and play dirty, we'll keep working tirelessly to do our jobs, but just think, what if all cops, across the entire nation, suddenly didn't show up for work for an entire day? These people don't realize what they have until it's gone. Hell, I bet they would bitch if they were hung with a new rope.

I'm thinking a lot of us board members would be ok considering our collections amd affection for training and preparing.. Most murders are typically going to take place with or without police intervention as most of them are not "anonymous" type killings but the result of a domestic or something similar. It's nobodies fault, there's just nothing cops can do to prevent that. Even in our quiet neihborhood one occurred between a boyfriend and girlfriend in a $400k home with in the last few months. Theoretically you could use that argument for anything "What if every pilot stopped flying over the holidays?" ""What if grocery store workers all stooped showing up?" "Truckers quit driving" "What if sanitation workers all decided to quit?" Point being, society would be disrupted and go forward. We all operate as a cog in the system. Nothing is stopping any of us from quiting our jobs, and that includes police and prison guards. The threat of it happening rings hollow because most of us have mouths to feed and actually believe in what we do. Merry Christmas.

I mean on a massive scale. Perfect example: NYC, people do not notice sanitation workers. They come, they go, they pick up the garbage, they move on without anyone noticing. Not a single person seems to care. Then they go on strike, and all hell breaks loose. One cog in the machine stops working and the entire machine goes into chaos. Irreparable? No. But people take notice when things go terribly wrong, and trust that some areas are a little more detrimental if they go away, even for just 24 hours.

Agreed, but most communities are self policing, especially here in Douglass County. It would be suicidle to try and rob someone down here. Most people carry I suspect. I watch the news my wife puts on and they run stories about how Airfares are going up...which they're not compared to the late 80's. I'd bet that if every pilot went on strike or quit during the holidays it would make the front page everywhere. The media exposes our ignorance as a society. And again, most people are not willing to quit their job to prove a point.....to many mouths to feed and bills to pay.

I agree...when the dock workers go on strike it is chaos on the Islands. Sanitation too. There was a teachers strike.... Lots of upset parents taking off work or paying for daycare....id like to see the police strike. We can call it a "well day"... Everyone felt too good to go into work.

I don't think by their CBA they're allowed to.

I think some commentators have been claiming that they don't have a contract (and this is the "real" reason they don't like DiBlasio).
