The families will end up paying little or nothing in the end.

The Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence will foot the bill.

While the family were willing participants, The Brady Center needed them as the victims to forward The Brady Center agenda. Attempting to force legitimate legal businesses out of business has always been part of that agenda. "Punish those evil bastards" has always been part of that agenda.

All they needed the family for was "Go for it" and maybe some sappy PR.

No parent should bury a child, I can't imagine what they went through and continue to go through but this (happened a month ago btw and was widely reported at that time, well at least in the Denver Post and a couple of tv stations had it) was a very sad, distorted and misdirected attempt at holding anyone but the demon pulling the trigger responsible.

The circus starts Monday, knew quite a few people on the DA's witness list and really hope the scumbag (I refuse to type/utter his name) is found sane, guilty and gets the death penalty (won't hold my breath on that one).

Actually, that's a modern, first world view.

It's sad when it happens, but I don't think this was a common statement even as recent as the early 20th century.

That aside, logic indicates that going after a legal business for the illegal actions of an individual are misguided.

When someone firebombs a dance club, do they go after the gas station where they bought the gasoline or the company selling matches? Does a family sue General Motors for the actions of a drunk driver in a Pontiac?

Wonder if the Bradies will appeal this, and if so, likelihood of success? I would think low.

This is a great point that shouldn't be overlooked. It's time the attorneys (usually the person responsible for 'selling' the idea of a frivolous lawsuit to his clients in the first place w/the idea of a big payday) are held accountable for their actions as well. This is where the problem starts. Start out with fines (like their clients received) that go to victim relief funds or something useful & work up to temporary suspension of license & finally disbarment. It's time we started attacking the root of these problems.

That's part of Tort Reform. NO FRIVOLOUS lawsuits. Which representatives from both sides refused to vote on, surprise.

Why should lawyers & health care providers be held responsible for their actions & how they affect society? Politicians don't.
