When I had a home in South Florida I went to that website where you can type in your zip code and it brings up where all the sex offenders live. -it's pointless there: the entire southern end of that state lights up!

Interesting article. The guy doesn't look anywhere near 25 years old.

Use to live in Castle Rock. Had no idea there was a convicted offender living up the street (next door to a co-worker). No idea till his house went up in flames one night and no it was not an accident. At first I thought it was my co-workers house and he was on shift, so I went running up there. Pretty obvious accelerant use and the house was well involved. Pretty sure the guy moved out after that.

I like this site. It gives recent crimes reported as well as sex offenders.

Except for I'm the newest move in on the block, and he's lived here the longest, obvious drug user/dealer, if I call the cops and he's clean, not too hard for him to figure out who ratted him out. For all I know he doesn't own/possess a firearm. I'm not a cop and I'd sooner keep an eye on him and protect my family than poke the retard bear.

They're everywhere. Aaaaargh. Fortunately, parents in my neighborhood either walk the children to school, or the kids tend to go in great big noisy gaggles. I do hope most people do a check for felons and sexual predators before they move to a specific neighborhood.

I hate to say it... But, in my most recent experiences. The system is fucked. The system goes after folks that have things to loose and can be forced to contribute to the system. The system does not care about a concerned citizen reporting a possible armed convicted felon.

All reporting someone will get you is trouble. No good deed goes unpunished.

I have resolved myself to the philosophy that if it does not affect/penetrate/threaten my immediate AOR. I just observe and record.

If there is any concern, I can run a background using public records for people. I do quite a bit of that for people with children when they're moving into new/unknown areas, as well as "dating checks" for people. The sites provided in the thread are a great start, but each one of them has a statement that says not every criminal is listed.

I'm not trying to make people paranoid, mind you. But there are options available.
