It's got some useful stuff. Example Picture threads for figuring out how the rail you're looking at will cover over the muzzle.

You just have to dodge the mountains of bullshit.

I believe you'd be surprised how many members here, as well as replying to this thread, didn't own an AR, OR any firearm when they signed up. Hell some folks here STILL don't own more than 1 maybe 2 guns. ESPECIALLY an AR, let alone more than 1K of ammo.

Now do a poll of how many here have had a CCW for more than 1 year, 2 - 3 - 5 - etc. Probably 1/4 - 1/3 membership doesn't have one, or better yet. Attended anything other than a basic (need a ccw cert) course. I'm not asking for anyone's pedigree, all i suggest is one look at them self before hand..............
I would never rag on anyone for simply not owning a firearm or having little to no experience. I would, however, rag on someone who spouts off a load of BS like they know what they are talking about when it's blatantly obvious they don't.

As far as the last part of your post, you're just being mean. You know I just got my permit earlier this year.

Actually, To their credit, I assembled my first AR lower based on a thread there (This one: http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_4/226...ructions_.html)

And there is some really ingenious stuff, like the form 1 suppressor threads and the Fruity Ghosts thread.. but the rest is poop.

I have been a lurker there since 04, joined after the advanced search feature got pulled from public access, sometime in13. Turned out you now need to be a team member for advanced search. My post count is 2.

As mentioned above, I find lots of useful stuff outside GD. Pictures of reticles in real life settings and configurations can be quite helpful when looking for new items.

Pisses me off I have to put in a captcha or be a paid member to search the Classifieds.

I'd not hesitate to pay for membership here and do so on other worthwhile forums I frequent.

Posted a bit over "there" when I first got into black guns, and when everyone was looking for parts during the panic, not so much anymore.

Uggh I would wager 80% of the folks on the NFA section have ever even held something with a stamp. The amount of incorrect advice and "facts" spewed in there is over the top. Then they all get butt hurt when you try to explain they are wrong.

No.. no need to go there.

I've never been over there. I won't be heading over there any time soon after this thread.

It is what you make of it, I have been a member over there since Jan 2005 and lurked over there from 2002. I have seen productive intelligent members come and go. Some I miss some I don't. Stay in the forums you find useful and intelligent and it is a helpful tool.

The Forum I have been utilizing the most I have the fewest post on. I have spent more time here http://www.usrifleteams.com/forums than anywhere else as most of my shooting these days is High Power matches.
