So you think the Alphabet crew has an agenda here or the spokesmonkey is just a twit? While they were originally sold legally, with magazine locking devices commonly known as bullet buttons, the rifles were subsequently altered in different ways to make them more powerful, according to Meredith Davis, a special agent with the ATF.
Huh? Last I checked a BB just negated "tool less" magazine changes.
The Smith & Wesson rifle was changed in an attempt to enable it fire in fully automatic mode, while the DPMS weapon was modified to use a large-capacity magazine, she said.
Curious what the mods to the S&W were, shoestring? Rubber band? Oh wait, they filed down the firing pin!
Those alterations made the weapons unlawful under California’s ban on assault weapons, which bans guns with magazines that can detach for quick reloading.
The state legally allows the sale and ownership of assault weapons that have fixed magazines.
patently false.
Bottom line, multiple laws that were already on the books were broken and they did absolutely nothing to prevent humans bent on causing harm to others doing so.
Hint: people with ill/criminal/terrorist intent don't observe the law.
