Awesome! If the antis want to approach gun control as a public safety issue this is a great strategy.
In middle school, the district experimented with an intramural course. It was short and the offerings were "fun" things.
One of them was hunter safety. Yes, the Liberal teachers/admins hated it. I took it and it was awesome. We got to shoot .22LRs and practice safe handling with unloaded shotguns in the field. Got my orange card out of it. Teacher (female) made us bear chili at the end. It was my first exposure to a lot of things.
Every school should be doing this.
I grew up on the western slope and every 7th grader had to take hunters safety. The DOW came in and gave the course over a week.
