In his mind that maybe what is was trying to do. Sometimes stupid just can't be understood.

I probably would try to stay out of their way, but more because it looks like they had it in hand and I'd not be much help (don't currently CC). If it was a wrestling match, I might try to assist, but a standoff, probably not.

However, if I saw an officer in the road with a gun pointed, I'd probably stop behind the line of fire (but not with officer between the guy and me, so I wasn't in a potential line of fire).

You get out of a car in a traffic stop holding an AR (I don't care in what direction) you got to expect to get shot. They need to neuter that dumbass so he doesn't breed. Glad the PO is ok.

I have no idea what that idiot was thinking. If he had an unloaded AR and his plan was to get the jump on the cop by hitting him with it (sure looked like that was what he was doing) . . . not a great plan. If he was just scared about having the rifle on him, then getting out of the truck and "taking" it to the cop the way he started to is a great way to get shot--as evidenced by the reaction.

Glad the cop is ok and was impressed by the speed of his reaction/draw all while calling it in. That was pretty damn fast.
