With as much money as that industry makes you would think they would seek out a higher caliber employee to keep things running smoothly what with all the government regulations & oversight. Then again, gun shops probably have just as many or more & often times their pay rates are also low.

Know a few people in the business.
The shop workers get paid very low wages and a lot of employers categorize them as contract workers, so no benefits, social security matches, etc.
It is a real shame.

Often times people running dispensaries are geniuses at growing weed, but not at running businesses. On the other hand, there aren't a lot of positions in that industry that are much beyond entry level. "Bud Tenders" are really just helping people decide which strain to try and ringing them up. The actual growers spend all day trimming plants and taking care of them. While it's important to not ruin the crop, it's about the same as learning to work at a garden center or something. Security guards are just security guards.

However, there are new positions for guys to deliver weed from grow facilities directly to dispensaries. I believe that the position requires an active concealed carry permit as well. That and delivering packages for Amazon strike me as jobs with potential for easy work that isn't done behind a desk.

Yeah, they don't attract the best people. I know a couple of Vets that work for a security firm that handles dispensary security, and they routinely talk about how the dispensaries only hire the bottom, and only pay the bottom.

As per one of them, 3 dispensaries that he has worked with have all had problems with the employee's stealing weed and smoking while on the job, and he said it isn't rare.

Not so sure about the easy work. Amazon will be following the UPS model.
They will keep increasing your stops until you are running full speed.

My son hired on as a courier when mj was legalized and I was surprised at his yearly income. He makes more than I ever did. He's on the road a lot but company vehicle with all the perks.

(And generally speaking I love working here. Our CEO emphasizes actually being honest, ethical, doing the right thing, being kind, etc. Much different than selling cell phones when my boss said the bigger PITA I was the better)
