Ginsue, maybe you should switch up from sci-fi to fantasy and read the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind. It's basically regurgitated Ayn Rand, but with some wizards. Or even Harry Potter for that matter, if you are interested in reading stories where you can draw parallels to how you currently perceive the world economy.

I thought The Road was so boring. The way it ended was such a cop out (similar to my feeling on Children of Men). Anyone seen Shutter Island? Heard it was good but haven't seen it.

    Some I recommend

Transiberian (Woody Harrelson & Ben Kingsley),
    Night Train,
    and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

I've seen Shutter Island. It's pretty good. I can usually enjoy anything LDiC is in though. Inception looks like it could be something special.

After finishing Atlas Shrugged in January, I think I need to take a 1 year hiatus on books of that nature (it was a great read, but it emotionally exhausted me).

As far as movies - I haven't seen Shutter Island but it intrigues me. It comes off as a combo mystery/psychological thriller. The previews/commercials implied something of the finish to me and I'm curious enough to see if I'm right to actually go watch it.

Regarding "LDiC", I really dislike the guy but I have to admit that, like Jake, I can usually enjoy the movies that he is in.

Well, the SoT series doesn't really get very Ayn Randy until about 5 or 6.
