if you saw the number of angry people on facebook who didnt get a good lottery number to buy Hamilton tickets, you'd probably better understand the Buell's position. (*sarcasm*)

I know this view is not popular here, but I believe that any "open to the public" public or private venues/businesses/arenas should ONLY be able to restrict legal carry when the following are in effect:

    - Full screening at ALL entrances for ALL personnel EVERY TIME. Letting the employees, performers, roadies in and out the back entrance with just an ID lanyard while John Q. Public gets the rubber glove at the main entrance is not an acceptable security posture.

    - Mandated levels of armed security and liability insurance.

    - Provide secure storage for patron and customer weapons while they are on the property.

The above would apply to any location where the public expects to gain access, ticket or not. It would not apply to private homes or SECURE businesses like Lockheed Martin Waterton Canyon, but definitely would apply to any mall, theater, store, sports arena or performance venue.

Being able to restrict citizen carry should be legal, but PAINFUL...

I agree! If a person is going to create a security vacuum, he has a moral responsibility to fill it. Should be civil and potentially criminal liability for failing to do so.

Oh but "my property." Well... About that baker...

We all know why the Buell has this policy. There hasn't been a rash of "gun violence" at the theatre. Denver's Lib elite aren't comfortable with their political enemies carrying anywhere near them. Same reason Denver Co won't issue CCW.

I like this. I think that any venue that was financed with tax dollars (think the football stadium, Coors field, DCPA), or receives any tax dollars, should have to provide secure storage for patrons. As should government buildings like courthouses(as required by CRS 18-12-214(4)), that meet the requirements for security in other respects. It always grinds my gears that they can choose which parts of the law they choose to comply with.

I don't wish anyone pain. If I can't carry a firearm in a place, I just don't go there. 95% of all theater seats test positive for fecal coliform anyways.

Because CO is a "shall issue" state.

The joke was that Denver is a "shall deny" county. I don't know if it's still that way or not.

Ding, ding. I've spoken with the likes of Pepsi Center and some other venues about AT LEAST providing an on premise storage system for those of us that carry. Just beating my head on the wall I know, but it MIGHT help to voice these opinions on them about our rights and needs just so we can go to their damn venue to see some entertainment that we might be interesting in seeing. I do not like going downtown without carry, I do not like going anywhere without my carry.

Sounds insurance liability driven. Been to the Buell theater maybe three time in 20 years. There are smaller venues, in Denver, that already have security with wands. Doesn't make sense unless there is pressure from somewhere.

Gun/knife free zones are great targets.
