Much talk about "gun control" tonight. I see nobody asking follow-ups about the terrible gun violence in the D controlled communities that they're complaining about. They can't even blame the Republican controlled Senate for the messes they've created.

Beto is coming for your AR-15s. He went to a gun show in Arkansas and spoke to people buying and selling AR-15s and found some common ground (must have found a Fudd, because AR-15 buyers and sellers don't have an interest in having the guns taken away).

Hopefully they'll keep up the extremism.

The debate shifted to gun violence in a state shaken by a mass shooting last month that left 22 people dead and two dozen more wounded.In an emotional moment, O'Rourke said that there weren't enough ambulances at times to take all the wounded to the hospital.

"Hell yes, we're gonna take your AR-15, your AK-47," he said, as the crowd cheered.

Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar noted that all the candidates on stage favor a ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines. She favors a voluntary buy-back program on assault weapons, however.

Eh, what a presidential candidate promises and what they actually accomplish is as accurate as seeing New York by taking a picture in front of the statute of liberty in Las Vegas. They are all pandering for headlines in their own way.

The most concerning, to me, is Yang doing "raffles" for "universal income" e.g. taking the YouTube strategy and trying to do "giveaways" of money to pander for "views" and especially headlines. Our process is already screwed up, but taking it in that direction will take our country completely dark-mode if it ever begins to appear successful... essentially he's saying "elect me" on the sole premise of he promises to directly give you money if you do.

That's really what is going on though, each has a strategy to try to grab click-bait headlines. Beto's is just the least successful (and dumbest) take of the lot.

ETA: E.g. even if Ol' Beetle got elected, the necessary legislation wouldn't ever cross his desk and he'd distance himself from his election rhetoric in the interest of a second term.

If you want to reduce gun violence, taking the direction that you will forcefully take people's guns is going to produce more gun violence.

I watched almost three minutes of the debate while Biden was babbling incoherently. Good golly, this guy has two feet and half a leg in the grave--worse than Bob Dole when he ran for president. His mind has clearly left his body. The only reason Biden tops the Democrat polls is because the other candidates are such pathetic panderers and their positions are absolutely nuts. Hell, they all make Donald Trump look good which is really unbelievable.
