Its like once every 2-3 years. And I am not taking money from anyone. Cars do no damage to pavement, and there is no congestion on e470.

I do believe you can get an exemption if you are military deployed, from penalties.

My advice is just pay them. Just like a whore.
This made me LOL, and I agree. I did get a bill once and there was no way I drove on E-470 at that time. Turns out, after a few calls and hassle, that it was an AZ plate with my exact same plate #. Wasn't worth my time to make all the calls and shit, but it felt good to jam it up their ass.

I have a bit of a controversial take on this, maybe. F-the state that extorts, whoops....I mean collects as "tax revenue", a usury amount of money from me in the form taxes. If they can't see his license plate with their surveillance system, f-them. Get better cameras so you can steal some more. Eric isn't stealing from US, he's just not voluntarily allowing the State to steal his money. As long as what he's doing isn't illegal.....go for it. IDK, is a front plate required in CO? Probably. Easier to watch your every move that way.

I haven't run a front plate on my 2003 car since new. Got ticketed once for it parked on a street in "Denver" while working at St. Joe's Hospital. Been pulled over by patrol officers who never questioned it once.

I don't disagree with the basic premise that the e470 toll authority, and every other public/private toll organization in this state is a crime against the good citizens of Colorado, but I have to imagine that this is akin to shoplifting where we all get to cover that by paying higher rates. Sure, it's probably minimal, but it's more the principal of it to me.

How would you feel about a motorist that switches the same plate between different vehicles, while the rest of us continue to get ass raped on registration fees? Is that OK?

Switching plates would be totally illegal. I want to be clear here, for the MODs especially. I am not promoting any illegal activity. But if you can do something legally to deny the State from stealing your hard earned money, by all means go for it. Just like a tax deduction.

And as for the ass raping, we just bought a used 2018 SUV a few months ago. Newest vehicle I've ever owned in my 50 years on Earth. The registration fee, or "privilege to own a vehicle extortion" was $908. Just to "own" the vehicle. AYFKM? This shit is out of control.

Not controversial at all, especially when you consider all the revenue the state takes in already. It's pretty ridiculous that we even have toll roads at all and it is nothing more than another way for the gov to milk the taxpayers.

I sometimes pray to the ghost of Heemeyer that he may return with his blessed Killdozer and take out all the cameras on that road and the 25.

I feel your pain, we bought a travel trailer 2 years ago in September. The temp expired mid October, by then it is winterized, covered and parked for the winter. I figured why plate it, I will wait until spring- i knew there would be late fees but they cant go over $100 right?
    Error, error.
Bastards back charged me from October to March when I got the plates. Originally the plates would have been $275 but they were now $650.
I asked what was going to happen when I finally plate my 70 Nova that has been parked in my garage for 10 years.
"Oh, you will ONLY be charged for the previous years "road use" fees."
"But it didnt "use the road" the previous years......."
    Blank look.

Makes buying a lot in WY and registering all of my vehicles there pretty damn attractive.

Had a new, as in never titled trailer we used for storage. Called dmv for temp plates, said it's been in storage for X years. They said well there's original tax & plates PLUS number of years not registered. Like you it was high, only closer to $1k.

Went back to place we purchased trailer, was explaining to guy we were moving OOS and..... He says. Let me guess you'd like a temp tag? Sure, ok here ya go. Tossed him a $50 and said buy lunch.

Keep ins coverage on them and use our address. Trailers are a 1x fee with a PERMANENT tag. Cost $140 forever tag that was almost 10x less than what CO said i would have to pay for a temp tag.
