I usually convince myself that I can remember the items I go to the store for.....out maybe 6 items I will remember 3 and still come out with more items then I went in for, Mostly “Oooh look at that!” Items.

I always go by the clearance section, and never see anything that even remotely interests me.
Might be a local thing though. Some thrift stores make you want to jump out a window every second you're in there (ever seen a two story thrift store?!), and in some parts of town they are full of hidden treasures.
I once found some KS brand aluminum foil for ridiculously cheap. We used it for 2-3 years at maybe a 1/3 of the cost.
