Eh. Their bread and butter is the law enforcement market. You know any ban won?t apply to those guys anyways.

Why would you say that. That 94 ban did. Police officers could still get them but there were plenty of hoops to jump thru and there were additional record keeping requirements for dealers, too. Most wholesalers wouldn't let dealers order "hi-cap" mags without a copy of the officer's letter. It was a massive pain in the ass for everyone.

Uhm. Pretty sure that?s what I said.

Poster above me thought maybe Glock should introduce their carbine before they get banned. My point was that since Glock would likely still have a market for them (law enforcement) I wouldn?t think they would be pushing the envelope to release it just so us lowly civilians could get our filthy hands on one.

I worked in a gun shop during the ban and in CA with all its bullshit on top, there were very few hoops for officers to jump through to get what ever they wanted except happy switches.

Yeah... Well I worked for a police dept and then owned a gun shop. As an officer you were required to get a letter signed by the chief or sheriff (or someone acting on their behalf) that stated the restricted item was for the performance of official duties and not personal use and the officer had not been convicted of any DV related offense. The letter had to be presented to the business selling the item. The selling business usually had to jump thru hoops to acquire restricted items from distributors. I never dealt with any distributor that didn't require copies of that same letter to order the item. You just didn't walk into a shop and buy a full capacity magazine like you guys are implying. If you did, someone wasn't following the law. Some departments required the magazines (or gun) be surrendered or disposed of by the officer if/when they ceased employment during the ban.

So, sure...officers could get the item. Police officers get lots of things Joe Blow citizen doesn't get.

And I'm not supporting the ban or restrictions at all. I'm just pointing out the cops had to follow the law as written and couldn't just walk into a shop and get a prohibited item like you guys are making it seem.

I also meant to mention an officer couldn't get restricted items if it wasn't specifically for duty. In other words, if your dept didn't authorize/issue AR-15s for carry on patrol you weren't gonna get a letter to get AR mags. Same for handguns. So aside from duty guns, officers faced the same restrictions as everyone else in terms of the ban. Making it out like that's not the case is flat out wrong.

So. You?re still saying what I said about exceptions being made for law enforcement when acquiring items that were banned from private civilian ownership.

Your just making a big deal that they had to get permission from their department. Boo hoo. How tragic. Must have been absolutely horrible for them.

While I appreciate your former service to the community and am jealous that I have never been ambitious enough to own my own business, your whining falls on deaf ears.

(Sorry. I get that might come across as me being less than nice but my give a fucks have been broken for months.)

No, I'm not making a big deal out of anything other than your misrepresentation of the facts. You're implying that police officers got some sort of pass on the AWB ban by stating "You know any ban won?t apply to those guys anyways". They didn't. It's ignorant to even suggest that. They were required to comply with the law just like everyone else. The law did give them an exception to possess certain items for the performance of their duties. But as I pointed out if their duties didn't require possessing a prohibited item, they didn't get that item.

You can feel however you want to feel about me or what I've done in the past. I'm not looking for praise or approval and I don't care what you think of me. What I do care about is people that make shit up and try to pass bullshit as fact.

The Glock Carbine is coming, the Glock Carbine is coming!!!

If so, it'll be reliable, but will need aftermarket sights, the grip angle will suck, and aftermarket triggers will be released to fix trigger issues, real or imagined... Oh, and it'll require new mags. lol!! Love my Glocks, they're way late to the ... But hey, they have a .22lr pistol!
