    To bypass the NICS check, the state's CCW permit needs to be "NICS qualified", which Colorado's is not, since "permanent brady" went into effect in 1999 or so. Prior to that, a Colorado CCW permit was accepted in lieu of the background check.

    There have been a few attempts to get the state to make its CCW NICS qualified, but so far the dims have killed it, and/or Ol' Ritter has vetoed it.
