Google Mail and Google Voice are your friends. These never change no matter who your service providers are. Best of all both are free. You should look into it.

    This is gospel.

Have personal email accts with your service provider for family, etc... but forward EVERYTHING to your gmail acct...
gets it off your hard drive and gives you greater flexibility... then if you change - just update the few you give your 'real' email to...

I use magic jack for my home phone.

I am gone a lot so a cell is my main source, but to keep the minutes lower and to make the longer calls then the magic jack is perfect.

I just paid for 5 years...yes years of service and it was $70.

I was inspired, just got off the phone with comcast (do this every 6-7 months) and reduced my bill by $25 per month with threat to leave. I wish they did not make me waste the hour but it had to be done.

My son just went through this BS with Comcast. It took an hour on the phone to get something close to the price their website shows. "They never heard of that promotion" - transfer - transfer - bla bla. What a joke. It's Hulu for me or even better, no TV! I'd rather chat with all of you or watch my fish swim or fix something on the house. Hmm, what's the DirectTV number?

I'd cancel our Comcast cable if the fiance would let me. The only problem with that is how I have to do a hard reset of all my Comcast internet components several times a day! On a scale of 1-100, my internet connection reliability is about 25.

We canceled are Comcast cable and have to say it was one of the better decisions I made this year, still have their internet service which is pretty solid for me until I start torrent downloading, then all hell breaks loose with my routers.

Mine does it when I'm NOT doing that. It's weird.

No surprise about the problems with DISH, I worked there for nearly ten years, so I know all of the joys of dealing with their customer service...
