Don't forget the NRA Whittington Shooting Range down at Raton, NM.
It is only about a half hour drive for some of us lucky folks.

Old Dude (Meant in ALL respect Mr. Dino) helped me call some shots at the PD match I was actually able to make it too... I had NO idea what I was doing or even how to do it.
But you know what... you came out and tried it. Good on you. As you witnessed it was low threat. The local shooting community are a great bunch of folkes. Next time you can make it I will help you out as best I can. Shoot me a pm with what you are shooting and maybe we can work up a drop sheet. If you can make it early enough we can confirm on the 325 berm ( no shooting on the 425 on match day).

I'm shooting there today, around 12-1:00.

If I didn't have family to pick up at the airport at noon, I'd be there with you.

Rgr that, yes Sir. I'd love to come again and I will eventually, just need to gather some more time and money... Time usually being the biggest culprit. I don't think it would make much sense to fill out a drop sheet when I just shoot the cheapest thing I can find at Wall-Natsy or whatever store I happen to drop by. That's why I'd like to get it into someone's hands who knows what they are doing for a week or two and let them test different loads, see groupings, etc. I just don't have the time for it. Seems like I've been "on call" every weekend for the past several months.... grrrr.

Not only will it be difficult to find someone willing to sort out your rifle for you (it's a lot of work, and a lot to ask), but it's probably counterproductive to your development as a shooter anyway. I have a wealthy friend who does exactly that, and as a result he doesn't know his gear, his ammo, or his dope. He shoots poorly.

A much better plan would be to get with any of the more experienced shooters here and spend a few hours together. Let one of them help you through the process, but be a part of the process. I know I've volunteered to help you in the past, and I'm sure there are 10 other more qualified guys here who would do the same. It will be for the best in the long run.

Rgr, I hear you. It's back to arrangeing schedules and such again. I'll get it figured out sooner or later. I do sincerely appreciate all the help/advice/etc I've been given on here. It's a wonderful site.

The range in Pueblo officially goes out to 425 yards. For some matches we can stretch it out to 600. Hopefully within the next couple years we will have enough land to get out to 1,200 yards.

Frontier Gun Club South Range in Fountain only goes out to 300, even though they promised to make it a 1,000 yard capable range when they were designing it. A huge disappointment of a range.

The Royal Gorge Gun Club in Canyon City goes out past 1,000. If there is a lot of people you wont be shooting past 200 as there is a common backstop for all ranges. Shooting over peoples heads isnt a good thing.

NRA Whittington in Raton NM is excellent for all things firearm related. The first Sunday of the month has a long range match on the north side of the property. Good times.
