For real. You're not a vet of the most dangerous traffic on the continent until you survive the 8 lane death trap of 95-495, and cruised Suitland on a Friday night. BTDT and whitee got skeerd.

Edited to add: I figured out home residence, jobs, and relatives addresses and names in less than 4 hours on two of the members on this site one time. I also found their location that night. Not posting your location might make you feel safer, but it's a facade. If it the cops, 10 minutes tops...

I've done that- and taken a wrong exit trying to get to a building near the Ft. Totten Metro station- (bonus points if you know where I'm talking about without Google, 2x if you've been there after dark) and wound up playing a game of "spot the crack whores" well after dark with a co-worker to pass the time until we felt safe again.

Ft Totten up in NE, on the Green line going to Greenbelt. I believe the Red line crosses there as well.

I used to work mids at 13th and L NW. The District had to outlaw right hand turns from 6P-6A just to keep the Johns from circling.

Most of the District I worked in was not on the Tourmobile route

DING DING DING... winner, winner, chicken dinner!!!

(I'll buy you the beverage of your choice if we ever meet up as a prize)

bonus round- can you name the NW strip club that was famous for catering to DC "royalty"... I've seen it, worked down the street from it, but was never inside (was never a big fan of strip clubs)... saw the limos going by at all hours, to the "VIP entrance" that was hidden from street view to some degree...

as a side note, I was out on the street at all hours in this area, and the worst thing I was afraid of in that neighborhood was the rats (they were friggin HUGE)

I don't remember that- but you're only as anonymous as you want to be...

just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're NOT out to get you...
I'm not doing anything that the cops SHOULD be interested in, anyway...

Camelot is the only one that comes to mind right now.

DC has always been loaded with rats. I recall one summer night I was in the east alley off 18th street in Adams Morgan. I had the window down and was slow rolling just waiting for the bar fight calls. I looked over and swear one of the dumpsters looked like it had a moving fur carpet. I could have reached out and touched it (not a wide alley) I've never seen that many rats in one place at one time. They were big and they don't scare at all.

I watched The Wire. Does that count?

The Wire was set in Baltimore. DC is a very different city from Baltimore even though they are 35 miles apart. I loved watching location shots in The Wire. Made me feel all homey inside.

That's the one... used to get amusement watching the limos come and go... I left the facility around 18th & L NW after our maint. window closed about 2am... walked to the hotel down the street (Embassy Suites, IIRC), and would've sworn some of the rats in the bushes growled at me for lunch money... they were among the largest I've ever seen- and weren't shy at all, just as you describe...
around here, without the DC gun laws, they'd get a shotshell right away, but I think that would just piss them off!
