    Default Who is John Galt?

The classic book "Atlas Shrugged" has been made into a movie. If you're not familiar with the book, it's a novel written in 1957 about rampant socialism and the final result. It's eerily prophetic of the situation today. It's one of the most inspiring and enlightening books I've ever read.

It's just been made into a film, but (no surprise here) it's an independent film. No way the weenies in Hollywood would ever touch a story this powerful. If you'd like to see it in a theater in your area, you have to go to the website and request it. It took me 1 minute.

Seriously, it's important. If you value your freedom and the American dream, you owe it to yourself to read the book or see the film.

The movie, "The Fountainhead" was also an Ayn Rand story. A movie with Gary Cooper about intellectual rights and personal integrity. Made in the late 1950s, I believe, before Hollywood was in the business of making movies explaining how EVIL our nation is.

Ironic that it is showing in Boulder, but not Colorado Springs. Go figure...

Tim, thanks for the heads up. I just reread (listened) to Atlas Shrugged last month. Very interesting concepts developed in the story. I'm not really a fan of her writing style but whole heartedly agree with her conclusions regarding socialism and the nature of individuals and capitalist incentive.

The previews I've watched for movie Atlas Shrugged Part One looked to be very different from the book. Independent studios can screw up things just as easily as the major studios can. I was totally discouraged from seeing the movie.

The other thing is I can't stand multi part stories. I want see it all at the same time.

    I'll wait for the disc's.

The book is in three parts ... three LONG parts. I can't see how the entire thing could have been done in a single 2 or even 3 hour movie.

I believe much of this was filmed locally. A friend of mine had a very minor (just above extra and still unpaid) part that was filmed in Canon City. The guy that owns the rights has owned them since the early ninety's and has been "waiting for the right time to make the movie."
    Thanks for the post Tim.
