Never quite understood smoking, it stinks, your stink from it and it kills you. Hell it even tells you the latter on the box!
People should show some common sense and not smoke in an enclossed space with their kids. But there again the fact that they are smoking in the first place shows a lack of common sense?

I'm just one guy, but when I was growing up my dad smoked everywhere - car, house, etc. I was always around smoke. I hated it. Of course back then it was acceptable since so many smoked.

When I got out of college I got a job dealing with hazardous materials and had to get a super thorough physical, including a lung test, every year. It tested lung capacity and stuff.

I was ALWAYS way above average. I just don't buy into the second hand smoke kills deal.

It still isn't cool to smoke around kids like that though. It certainly can't be good, only bad. Douches...

I HATE when people make second hand smoke out to dangerous like radiation or something. It is completely ridiculous and untrue. Smoking in an enclosed vehicle though, is much closer to just having the baby smoke. In an enclosed space, the smoke can't get away and it builds up.

One time on NPR, they played a clip of some guy who said something along the lines of the following....

"We've found that second hand smoke is actually MORE DANGEROUS than first hand smoke, because when people smoke, they only absorb around 5% of the smoke. That means the people around the smoker are actually breathing in 95% of the smoke!"

I nearly had a stroke from hearing so much stupid crammed into one sentence.
"There are no finger prints under water."

As much as I disagree with smoking around your kids, SideShow Bob hit the nail on the head.

MYOB as long as it isnt affecting you or your family. Soon enough there will be
laws against this and bans to follow.

It's a pretty slippery slope to state that this "next law" is to protect the innocent, or the young, or the whatever... Half the stupid things we have to put up with now are a result of someone trying to "help out" someone who "can't help themselves."
There's no law on this now- and as much as I'd like it to be so, it's not illegal to be dumb or to do stupid things- so it is what it is.
In my business, incidentally, we call that "poor protoplasm." And it surely is

    exactly this
Your good idea isn't worth my freedom.

and it's pretty damn sad that 90% of a GUN BOARD in fucking relatively free Colorado thinks it's all well and good to have armed officers of the state enforce their good idea.

While i agree about idiots not having windows open with kids in the car, Lets change it up and insert
    GUNS.

You Know what really pisses me off?? I was driving today and at the light the Truck next to me had not 1 but 3, YES THREE, DEAD DEER in the back. KNOW WHAT'S WORSE?????? There were guns, yes GUNS too. THEN GUESS WHAT, of all the ungodly things (insert weeping smiley face) THEY HAD Childern with them. OMG Children. Its bad enough they killed helpless beautiful animals, WITH GUNS, They had children, my god children exposed to this kind of environment. WE NEED the police or someone to go after this kind of recklessness. If Children are raised to believe killing animals AND guns are an acceptable lifestyle......What will they grow up to be, murders, oh the inhumanity.

SOUNDS STUPID??? Of course it does, unfortunately that is how someone who doesn't agree with your lifestyle feels.

I don't smoke and believe those who subject their kids to it are not the best, but hey their way of life.
This is it exactly, somewhere sometime somebody isn't going to agree with the way you live your life. And want to ban or regulate the things you hold dear, and then what? If they get enough people to agree with them, or people in power to agree, then what ever you love could be taken away from you.

As do I. But not my business. It is a slippery slope. If we come down on this, next is salt, or soda... oh wait.
