I'm confused. He killed 12 people but they're charging him with 24 counts of first-degree murder?

According to 9NEWS Legal Analyst Scott Robinson, the shooter is facing 24 counts instead of 12 - for the 12 people who died - was due to the two different types of first-degree murder he allegedly committed. Robinson says one form refers to murder with premeditation and the other is murder with extreme indifference to human life.

No, I read the article, I just don't understand how the double charge isn't double jeopardy (you know, from that old fashioned document we used to care about; The Constitution).

Well I'll call excel and volunteer to take a $5 increase on my electric bill for a month if they warm up ol sparky for this guy! I don't want my taxes supporting him for the next 60 or more years.

Most times in these types of charges they throw as much as they can at the guy. That way when half get withdrawn, plead, or found not-guilty, they are left with what they really wanted.

Kind of like when someone lists an item for sale high, the buyer offers low, and in the end they meet in the middle where they both really want to be.

The trial and execution should have been completed already. Defendant has a right to a speedy trial.

Great lets get it over with quick so he has his trial, then walk him out back and bury his ass.
