You guys are missing the point, it's not the bullet that will take down a plane, but the "illegal" green targeting laser.

The closest runway at DIA has to be at least 12 miles away from that theater...
Come on Rev., we're not buying that one today!

Of course, planes can always be damaged by "Human Error"

The issue with lasers is not damage to the aircraft, it's blinding the pilots. The pilots that have suffered permanent eye injuries appear to have had lasers stronger than pointers aimed at them but even laser pointers (especially green) can blind them long enough to create critical issues (especially if they were on approach).

    So follow this logic:
    1. Chicago has some of the toughest US gun laws to date
    2. Chicago has one of the highest gun violence/gun murder rates in the US
    3. Most offenders already have a criminal history
    4. Our legistators want to fix the issues with MORE laws?

    Is this because:
    1. The laws are insuficient ? - Nahhh
    2. The laws are not being enforced ? - Maybe
    3. Criminals don't care about laws; only honest citizens do ? - Ding Ding Ding Ding !!!!!

So in the end this will probably
    1. Increase the black market value on guns
    2. Allow only the "financially successful" drug lords and criminals to afford guns
    3. Assist the most "financially successful" drug lords in getting rid of their competiton
    4. Create more unarmed and defenseless gun violence candidates
    5. Maybe increase gun violence ?

Actually, if you recall the bolt action sniper rifle wasn't powerful enough. What he hid is shoot the propane tank under the helo - creating the fireball that engulfed said helo resulting in pilot and operator demise...

The .308 wasn't powerful enough for the helicopter toward the end of the movie but he used the .50 at the start of the movie to attack the rotor shaft of the attack helicopter.
