Reuters: Rallies assail Obama's proposed gun curbs

Across the country at a rally in Denver, the mood was defiant as about 500 people, including families with children, gathered in unseasonably warm weather outside the state capitol.

"I have earned the right to have my guns," said Don Dobyns, an Air Force veteran and former police officer from Colorado Springs, who was among the rally organizers.

Sporting a shirt that read, "Girls with guns," 31-year-old Jennifer Burk said: "My parents didn't raise a victim and the government shouldn't try and make me one."

Hell, you took non-shooters shooting on Gun Appreciation Day? Non-shooters from the NE yet? You have no reason to be sorry ... probably had a more productive day for our rights than any of us who were there.

Yeah, watching my daughter-in-law shooting the .44 mag with full-house loads was worth it! They had a great time, just wish we'd had more time and one of the 100yd. ranges. I really wanted them to run the AR15 and the M1 Garand.

The little boy with the flag? That was one of my favorites too. That was the best part of this whole rally... seeing all of the families out there. The children, the dogs, moms & dads. It shows what's really important. We had doctors, lawyers, military vets, teachers, and everyone in between. It was a great and diverse crowd!

It was a good crowd. I was hoping for 2 or 3 times that much. Hopefully next time.

I liked the divorce lawyer and the guy who got arrested for open carry the best. The guy who was arrested surprised me with how well put together his speech was. I had to leave at one so didn't see anything passed that time.
