Good luck man-same problem up here in the Denver Area Council.
Don't pick a fight with an old man. If he is too old to Fight, he'll just kill you.
I would me more than happy to help, just need to know what ammo is and isn't acceptable. I travel a lot and since I'm always looking for some myself would have no problems picking up what I find. The shotgun ammo shouldn't be tough to get by trolling through walmart, sportsmans, etc. But 22lr is going to be difficult and I can definately pick up what I find, when I find it.
they are limiting purchases everywhere, was in co spgs this morning, shop was limiting to 2, 500 round bricks per person, 100 bricks gone in less than an hour
there was a guy on armslist that was selling 5000 rounds, a bit pricey at $500 , but if you need the quantity, maybe he would come down a bit for a good cause.
maybe we should do a group donation from the board.
I am sure i can scrounge a brick, i saw one other offer to do the same. I am sure we can come up with some volume eh
maybe Patrick or another vendor would let us use his shop as a drop point and the BS can pick them up????

Self control: The minds ability to override the body's urge to beat the living sh.. out of some ass.... who desperately deserves it.
The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.
Thomas Jefferson
Obama, so full of crap it is a miracle Air Force One can even get off the ground,
I will try and scrounge some up too. Great cause though, first time I ever shot was at PV. That is when my dad and uncle decided it was time to get me my first .22.
Are shotshell reloads acceptable?
I have about 1,000rds of 22lr i'll give. PM sent
Red,White & Blue means Freedom, until its flashing behind you.
Thanks for all the offers guys -- our council has until June, possibly July until we have a critical situation so don't want to deprive anyone of their personal plinking. We have one option on the table that may resolve the whole situation and I'm waiting for word back from the other committee members; we'll probably have a long discussion about it Wed night. I can't promise all the boys going through Camp Alexander are first-time shooters (in fact, I know some of them aren't when I see them on the rifles) but I know we ARE introducing a lot of boys to our great sport. It's great to see all the support for Scouting at a time when we're under attack by Ob... the forces of extreme Liberalism.
As far as ammo types go, plinking quality is generally acceptable although we've had some issues with Remington (especially the Thunderbolt stuff). We've found the accuracy of the regular Remington to be sporadic which makes qualification scores problematic and the Thunderbolt was leaving huge lead deposits behind (I initially suspected inadequate cleaning by staff due to the size of the chunks but we cleaned out huge chunks of lead from brand-new out-of-box Henrys after one Shoot-a-ree using the Thunderbolt and out of my personal rifles so I know it was the ammo). We've been using copper jacketed American Eagle by Federal (38 gr) lately with good results but I think at this stage we just have to think about being able to support having boys get X rounds down range just for the orientation purposes and to get them to know and understand the basics of proper gun handling and realize it won't go "boom" just by looking at it.
Thanks all.

I'll commit a donation of a minimum of 1000 rounds, more if the need is there and my stash can support it. PM sent.
Put me down for 1k rounds. PM so we can figure out details.![]()
DD977GM2 -- Appreciate the offer, I will update this thread some more after our committee meeting on Wed but those of you near Denver may want to contact the Denver Area Council; StagLefty was indicating they have the same issue and I'd hate to poach on their "area" (plus it may be more convenient for one of their members to do the pickup). Again, many thanks for helping to inspire and train new shooters.
