With all the mention he made of his unconventional tactics and training, I would have suspected the burnt truck to be a decoy. Why the fuck would you deliberately advertise your location, in an area easily searched and with few other people? I could see lighting the truck up and then making back to the city as a diversion. I guess it just speaks toward the general wackedness of his mental state.
