i feel like my parents just turned against me because of my beliefs. When they found out that I am not an Obama fan, they started trying to make me feel like my success is changing me. I went from needing to file bankruptcy, to real estate investing. I just turned 28 and am now self employed investing in real estate, got my 10th rental home after being in the game 18months. My parents never were this way but in the last few years, I could see them becoming more and more discouraged and ultimately lazier. My mom is a realtor, my dad has a fence company. My mom has sat around doing nothing and basically got business only from properties that I needed her services. My wife got her real estate license for her property mgmt company so she has been writing all contracts for us and the money saved is rolled back into the deal. She blew up at me recently for me buying a $420k home and not basically giving her a free $12k commission, completely ignoring that my wife did all the work and saved us the money. My mom refuses to understand that the money doesn't just appear. Now they tell me that I am a "user" and my wife is the worst thing that happened to the family. They also, during the elections, said that the money has changed me and my father in law brainwashed me because he is wealthy and voting Romney. My parents say the only way i am successful is by "preying on the poor/middleclass people" and that i must be doing something illegal if i am successful in todays economy. Needless to say, they want King Obama to eliminate taxes for them, hold me accountable for a higher tax burden, and that I have bailed on my family because i won't give them any freebies. I was raised properly by these people and taught the ways by them, but they have given up and changed their views on achieving success. If they cant, No one can....

Isnt it awsome, they level of projection,

fact in the usual "dont tax me dont tax thy,tax the the man hiding behind the tree" complex, they want to pay in very little or in most if not all cases pay nothing at all and then make others how have earned large sums of money should pay more all the while whining about fairness....

glad to see you are bouncing back..I love it when people raise above it.. success is the best revenge

You're a bad person for working hard, bettering yourself and providing for your family the best way you can. Shame on you.

Sorry off-topic of the OP, but you accumulated that many in just a year and half?! Props to you sir, that's awesome, good luck with it! Proof that captalism, smarts, and hard work is all people need, EVEN IN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME!

Thank you, after the 3-4 house, they literally fall into your lap. It worked out for me because I was very used to budgeting. Wife and I lived on $45k/yr and acted like this new income didn't exist. If you can do that, It grows very quickly. Don't be afraid to partner with people either. I partner on all of my deals because my credit is still recovering from my previous issues so I bring the cash to get in, the other guy has the credit for long term financing and we partner cash flow and profit 50/50 or I give him the monthly cash flow on the rental in exchange for the equity when we sell it. Either way, it's not a get rich quick but it definitely is win/win.
