So I lost my sister today.
My eldest sister lives in Jackson WY and I have always known she harbored liberal views. I called her to get an idea about property values, taxes etc.
She asks me why and I tell her due to pending legislation I may be relocating up thataway.
She goes on a roll how nobody needs more than five rounds, nobody is going to make you turn in your guns yadayadayada.....
I expected that but she floored me when she told me this: " The Constitution is out dated, it was written 200 years ago and times change and I think the Second Amendment should just be stricken as it serves no purpose anymore".
I told her not to ever let her father (WWII Vet) hear here say that.
She said nothing and then said she had to go.
Fawk!
The most important thing to be learned from those who demand "Equality For All" is that all are not equal...

Sorry to hear it, Bert. Let me know if I can do anything for you.
I brought my father along into the culture, terminology, and operation of the gun (or so I thought). I remember him being absolutely astonished that I knew how to disassemble his dad's WWII Navy issue 1911A1; he had never even fired it. I got him to buy his first rifle at a Big 5 Mosin Nagant sale. Fast forward a few years. I call him about a month ago to talk, and he mentions Newtown, so I mention our recently detailed House Bills. He floors me by ranting about civilians owing automatic weapons and all the crimes done with them. I ask him "Where do you get this automatic weapons stuff from?" He clams up for a few seconds and I know that he's been watching MSNBC. It's been tense ever since.
My father was conservative. He worked in the Nuclear weapons community most of his life. We were very close. Masters in Physics, Columbia. My mother was a liberal. BA in Music, Univ. of VA. She and I hadn't spoken in 30 years when she died. My sister is a liberal. Lives in GA. She"s a perpetual victim. We don"t speak unless she calls for money. I told her no 3 years ago and haven't heard from her since. My brother is a true southern democrat. Married 6 times, 3 kids by different women (all wives), 5 DUI's. He owns guns but voted for Obama.
My wife's family is all liberals. The saving grace is they're all hard working and self-employed. Most are heavy gun owners and all of them are very nice to me or keep their distance. My wife is pretty conservative. She makes me look a little left from time to time. We've been together 27 years. It's a pretty solid family.

I look at liberalism the same way I look at down syndrome. It affects my family and there's not a damn thing I can do about it.
I'm seeing a pattern here. When I compare my Mother in law, step dad and some other friends, they all easily fit that template. Except for Bush. Most of them blame Reagan. They are all boomers, half former hippies, the other half weren't. One of my friends was an air traffic controller who was fired by Reagan. Ever since then, he's hated the right and took the role of the victim. He does own guns and surprisingly we have not butted heads on gun control. Though we've gone rounds on Obamacare and anything else Obama or the left.
