Here's the source of the ridiculous statistic. I don't doubt that the numbers for 1998 are correct but there is no relation between the two. I'd actually be interested in seeing an update even with the same flawed methodology given the much higher number of armed women today.

I'm surprised she didn't use the 302 number instead of 83.
