The correct answer is the IRA, who honed their craft during WWII. The IRA always wanted independence from England (sound familiar) "The Struggle" as it's referred to been going on for a very long time. During WWII the NAZI's were supplying the Irish with all the materials. Hoping the distractions caused by the IRA would weaken defenses to the north among other things.
Ireland was also a drop point for the Nazi's to infiltrate and spy on the Allies during that time.
