    I would say talk to the owner of "The Blunderbuss" on west Colfax. IMO & personal understanding, to modify it in any way takes away from it's value. Restoration is in the eye of the be-holder, I have been told many times by other collectors to not touch some of my muzzle loader/musket rifles. I am cleaning the bores out and some of the dirt/debris, but not touching the rifles in any other way.
