    Default Antique Ammo and Such

    More pic's, scroll down.

I have had this box and its contents for a long time, probably close to 20+ years. I thought that I had lost it when we moved from CA in 1999 but we moved a couple of months ago and there it was, buried under stuff in the garage. These pic's are just what can be seen from the top. Over the next day or two I will carefully dig into the box and post more photos of the contents for your viewing and discussion pleasure. I have no idea of the age of this stuff so maybe some of you can let me know what it is I have here.

Starting on the left there is a bandoleer with ammo, the head stamp is FS 4 06 and you can see it is a rounded point on the bullet. The bandoleer has markings and I will try to post a clear photo in another post. The boxes of ammo are partials and there is .30-30 and 250-3000 calibers. Then there is a partial box of "Mid-Range" clean cutting .38 special, I would guess is target ammo. Next to them are two boxes of . 45 ACP and I will devote a post to just them to morrow. The can of Hoppes is a full can of round cleaning patches.

Lastly is the box itself, does anyone have any knowledge of just what and when it is?

    Thanks and enjoy.

Selling? Or just showing it off? Is that .303 in the bandoleer? How old is the .45?

Showing off for now. I will post more pic's tomorrow of some of the other stuff in the box. I don't yet know what type of ammo is in the bandoleer, I was hoping someone here will be able to let me know just what I have and also, if there is any value. It's all very old. Here is some 1911 stuff in the box. The pic came out really blue for some reason, I'll try to take a better tomorrow.

That stuff in the bando, hard to tell from the photos. Could be .303, but the head and rim looks more like 7.62x54R. That one visible round kinda confuses me though, because of the silver color to the bullet and it looks to be more round-nosed than spitzer. I have a lot of old .303 with bullets that color, but not round-nosed. Never seen any really old 54R.

And the wood box - no idea how old, but much cooler than the current reproductions! Maybe 1900-era, within +/- 30 years? Just a WAG.

The 1911 parts "look like" early 1911, not 1911A1. The flat mainspring housings, long triggers and diamond stocks make me think that. Can't tell about the grip safeties, I can't tell how long the spurs are on them, but they may be early ones too. Other parts, who knows.....

Default MORE AMMO FROM THE BOX

My camera is back to taking photos without all the blue, here are some more pic's from the box.

Looks like the ammo in the bandoleer is for the KRAG and there are two boxes of the .30 Army, 220 gr and 180 gr. Also a pic of the .30 Springfield of 1906. Better pic's of the .45, a little blurry but maybe you all can make it out from the label.

If anyone cam tell me where to look for values it would be appreciated greatly, more for my own curiosity than anything. Enjoy.

Yep, neat stuff, there is more and I will post later. .22 Hornet, .45 Gvt, and some stuff I have not identified yet, some may be pre WWl. I dug out my case cleaner, just need some media and I could get some of the tarnish off these and better identify them. I will be out tomorrow picking up some solvent and gun oil, I should get some media as well.

What's the date on the .45 headstamps? Should say FA and a number, probably two digits, maybe one. Two digits would be 19xx, one would be 194x.

F A 31 so I guess 1931 is the year. The .30 Army (Krag) would then be F A 06, 1906. Thanks for the info. Awesome.
